Obituary of Ray V. Deason
Ray V. Deason (96) of Evansville, IN and Ruskin, FL passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 in Bay Pines, Florida, with his daughter and son-in-law by his side. Ray was born on July 6, 1925 in New Burnside, Illinois to Ray and Murl Deason. He is survived by his daughter, Rita Mattingly (David), grandson, Jason Williams (Megan), 4 great-grandchildren Sayla, Simone, Surie, and Kingston, his sister Betty Pruett, brother-in-law James Edward Hutchcraft, special companion Edna Delgman, and many nieces and nephews. As he entered the Kingdom, he was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, wife of 64 years, Lucille Deason, brother Robert Deason, and many other sisters and brothers-in-law. He was a member of Helfrich Avenue General Baptist Church, and had attended Cypress Baptist Church in Boonville, IN. In recent years he attended Mt. Pleasant Church of God. Ray was employed by ALCOA in Newburgh retiring in 1986. He served in World War II in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 on the submarine USS Besugo in the South Pacific. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW. Ray loved to travel, spending time with his family, boating on Kentucky Lake, spending the winters in Florida, and always tinkering and toying with random parts, pieces, and various projects. Ray served his country, his Savior, and served as a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, and will missed…. but for a short time until we see him again. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel and live-streamed at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA. Burial will follow.
