Pauline A. Patterson

Mrs. Pauline Patterson, 89, of Evansville, passed away on April 3, 2022, at the Protestant Home in Evansville. Pauline was born in Vincennes, Indiana to John and Agnes Keller on August 16, 1932. She was a graduate of St Rose Academy High School in 1950 and received her nursing degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in 1953. She began her nursing career at St Mary’s Hospital in Evansville where she met her future husband, Delbert Patterson. She retired from Aunt Mary’s (as Delbert often called it) after 40+ years of service. Pauline loved to sew, cook, garden and quilt. She truly believed that the one who died with the most fabric won. She demonstrated her love and devotion to her family through hard work. She and Delbert, over their 38 years of marriage, raised seven children – the youngest and oldest born 20 years apart. Over the many decades with every new challenge life brought, she put one foot in front of the other instilling in her family a perseverance second to none. Pauline was a devout Catholic and a founding member of Nativity Catholic Church. She was active in the Women’s Club and if any church activity involved food, she was often the one preparing it. During her life, she had been a 4-H leader, a Boy Scout Den Mother, a school nurse, and a member of the quilting club. She filled so many roles that her days just seemed to have more than 24 hours in them. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert in 1993; son, Randall; her parents, John and Agnes Keller of Vincennes; one sister, Rita Keller; and one brother, Raymond Keller. She is survived by her children, Marcia Patterson of Evansville; Wayne Patterson and his wife, Laura of Wilsonville, Oregon; Sandy Ford and her husband, Richard of Evansville; Linda Horty and her husband, Dan of Evansville; Delbert John Patterson and his wife, Paige of Boonville; Rita Patterson and her husband, Chad Bowar of San Jose, California; and Dan Patterson and his wife, Chris of Evansville; her grandchildren, Shannon Hurt (Eric ), Nathan Patterson (Chanel), Jacob Patterson, Emma Patterson (Cody), RJ Ford, Abby Horty (Wes), Shawn Horty (Jess), Justin Patterson (Sarrah), Taz (Sara) Patterson, Lucas (Kendall) Patterson, Ethan Patterson, Taylor Patterson, Ryan Patterson, Samantha Bowar, Jordan Bowar, Allie Wigginton (Josh), Rachel Wigginton, Brady Patterson, Emilie Patterson; her great-grandchildren, Sage Patterson, Stella Patterson, Karson Patterson, Weston Wigginton, Jaemyn Wigginton; and Pauline is survived by her 6 siblings, Betty Heinz, Gloria Townsley, John Keller (Kitty), Walt Keller (Jackie), Matt Keller (Rita), and Mary Ann Canada. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at Alexander Funeral Home, 2115 Lincoln Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 2301 North Stockwell Road with Fr. Tom Kessler officiating. Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Pauline will be laid to rest next to Delbert at Park Lawn Cemetery. We would also like to thank the staff at The Protestant Home. Many of the caregivers became more than that to our mother. They had truly become her friends, as we witnessed in her last days by the many visits.
