He was a wonderful loving funny husband, father, brother, brother-in-law and Papaw. He was a 1974 graduate of Reitz High School, retired iron worker Local 103 and Donut Bank delivery driver.
Doug was preceded in death by his mother Mary Elizabeth Curtis Johnson; brother, Manuel Lloyd Curtis, Charles Thomas Curtis; Mother-in-law, Ruby Mattingly.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Dana Curtis; son, Matthew Curtis (Jenny); grandchildren, Jaycee and Maycee Curtis; daughter, Andrea Mongiello (Michael); grandchildren, Alyssa, Andrew, Zoey, and new baby due in September; stepson, David Burton and fiancé, Tori, and grandchild, Ryder; grandchild and cooking buddy, Ryleigh Blake; grandchildren, Austin, Sabrina, Kimberly, Dominick; brother, Jerry Curtis (Patsy Tisdale Curtis); sister, Kathy Curtis and companion, Donna; beloved sister-in-laws, (more like sisters), Pat McCormick, Dee Dee Sampson, and Debbie Biggerstaff. Friends to both Doug and Dana, ex-wife, Brenda Hosick (Sam); many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and of course his loving and beloved cat, Chloe; wonderful neighbors, Sue and Jim Carnahan, Sarah and Jeremy Huff who Doug kept entertained all the time. Dana could not have made it through this without them.
Special thanks to all emergency service and sheriff that came to our aid. Also, neighbors on Nation and Alderson Road, who helped us in our time of need. God bless them all.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2021 at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel officiated by Pastor and brother-in-law, Roy Biggerstaff. Friends may visit 10:00 a.m. until service time.
