Nina Evelyn Lester Leslie

Nina Evelyn Leslie, 87, formerly of Evansville, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Wedgewood Healthcare Center in Clarksville, IN. She was born August 6, 1923, in Henderson County, Kentucky to parents, Allen and Abbie Lester.

She was a homemaker and seamstress who valued above all her faith and her family. She was a charter member of Terrace Parke General Baptist Church. She also was thankful to be a member of the Ruth Class at First Southern Baptist Church upon her move to Clarksville in 1990.

Nina also served her community through her volunteer work. She was secretary of the resident council at Wedgewood Healthcare. She also was recognized by Wedgewood and the Center for Lay Ministry for her extensive volunteer work.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Nora Sheets, Bill Lester, Dorothy Yoakum Osborne, Virginia Withrow and Shirley Simpson.

Three children born to Nina and Lloyd Leslie survive: Jim Leslie, Dona Bidula (Ron) and David Leslie. Also surviving is daughter-in-law, Bev Leslie. Nina had seven grandchildren: James Leslie, Dennis Leslie, David Leslie, Jonathan Leslie, Jill Ausmus, Elizabeth Peak and Jennifer Velotta, MD; eight great-grandchildren were her greatest joy: Lucia Leslie, Luke Leslie, Iva Leslie, Harrison Leslie, Karuna Leslie, Reece Ausmus, Janie Ausmus, Joey Velotta and Marley Peak.

Services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Glen Spence, with graveside services following in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
