He worked at Peabody Coal Company and was a member of the United Mine Workers Association. Mel was a member of the Boonville Gun Club and loved the outdoors and hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Dorothy R. (Grigsby) Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Williams; sons, Larry and Mike Williams; grandchildren, Brandon, Nick and Micah; step-grandchildren, Lillian and Yvonne; and sisters, Jacqueline Davenport and Sherry McDonald.
Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
