Melvin was a happy person. He loved everyone he met; was very sociable and enjoy watching his shows, like Little House on the Prairie, Wheel of Fortune, Dick Van Dyke, and Full House. He was a down-to-earth, wholesome person and had a passion for cars, music, and loved going out to eat. Melvin was a very talented person.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Wanda Shirley; brother-in-law, Jerry Brown; and nephew, Larry Shirley.
He is survived by his brother, William Shirley (Shirley); sister, Norma Brown; brother, Charlie Shirley (Brenda); several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
