Mary Evelyn Berkemeier

Evelyn moved to Evansville to assist in the War effort. She met her husband, Melvin Berkemeier, and was married in 1944.

She was an avid gardener and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and danced regularly until recently.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Mel in 1982; sisters, Eva Sander, and Lela Lutz; brother, Carl Nance; and her long time friend, Jake Weber.

She is survived by her two sons, Tim Berkemeier (Mona) of Evansville, and Rick Berkemeier (Robin); 4 grandchildren, Grant and Evan Berkemeier, Seth Hester of Springhill, TN, and Rachel Hester of Brooklyn, NY; 2 great-grandchildren, Sophia and Will Hester.

Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 2, 2011 at Alexander West Chapel, with burial at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2011 and 9:00 AM to service time Friday at the funeral home.
