Margie Sue Ann Bailey passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022. She was born on October 18, 1941 to Thomas Hart and Armenia Mae (Hill) in Keavy, Kentucky. Margie was the youngest of three children with older siblings, Johnny Hart and Peggy Black. She came from a very hardworking and loving home. Margie’s mother, “Mae,” was a school teacher in a one room school house and taught eight different grades while also being the elementary basketball coach. Margie’s father worked on the railroad and in the coal mines. She went to school until the age of 16 when she got married to Bobby Jean Bailey from Hyden, Kentucky. They were married for 53 years. During that time she eight children that lived into adulthood, four boys and four girls; Dennis, Bobby, Penny, Rita, Jeff, Danny, Tammy, and Peggysue; and three children that passed as infants, Tommy, Billy, and Susan.
While raising her children, she cared for a three acre garden, loved to plant flowers, draw, and do oil painting. She was a skilled seamstress who made all of her children’s clothes, including for weddings. She was a self-taught plumber, carpenter, auto mechanic, and electrician. She also managed to go back to school with her youngest son Danny to get her GED.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Peggy; husband, Bob; and oldest daughter, Penny. We will truly miss her, but as her children and grandchildren, we will enjoy all the great stories and memories she gave us.
No doubt she is currently in a happy place, back to her youthful self, playing with her puppy and sitting on the front porch of her parents’ house. She is listening to her favorite person, her dad, talk to her while her mom, sister, Peggy and husband, Bob watched the Kentucky Wildcats play.
The family would like to thank Brickyard Woodlands A/C Unit’s excellent nurses and CNAs for helping in managing her care for the last two years on behalf of her daughters, Peggy, Rita, and Tammy.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. (EST) on Friday, October 21, 2022 at House Rawlings Funeral Home in London, Kentucky. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery in Keavy, Kentucky. Friends may visit from Noon (EST) until service time at the funeral home.
