She was confirmed at St. Stephen's UCC in Warrington, IN and was a longtime member of Zion Lippe UCC in Mt. Vernon, IN. Louise played the organ at St. Stephen's for several years before her marriage, then became the assistant organist at Zion Lippe where she played for over 40 years. She accompanied the children's choir and played for numerous weddings and funerals throughout her years. In 1957, Louise graduated from Reitz High School where she played violin in the string orchestra. She enjoyed working with numbers and worked as a bookkeeper for Credit Thrift, now American General Finance, for over 40 years before retiring. She always remained proficient with computer systems. Being a farm wife, Louise was active in the farm's activities, including driving the tractor, gardening and canning. She was a 4-H leader during the tenure of her children's 4-H years. Louise enjoyed traveling with her husband and a group of good friends, and especially loved polka trips. With her good rhythm, she was always a fine dancer. She also enjoyed traveling to Germany and Alaska. In her later years when stricken with dementia, Louise still managed to recently play piano, and continued to master solitaire up until her final day.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Alvin William Roehr; son, Russell Edward Roehr; daughter, Janell Lillian Roehr; grandchildren, Leah (Tom) Dugan and Shayna (Ricky) Ray; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Hancock and Reed Ray; and siblings, Pearl Fischer and Ralph (Diane) Scherer.
Louise was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law, Delbert Fischer.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Zion Lippe UCC, 9000 E. Copperline Rd., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620, officiated by Pastor Jeff Long, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel and Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church.
