Linda Sue (Maxwell) Richards, 74, Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on December 31. She was born in Evansville on July 21, 1949, but lived in Vincennes most of her adult life. Linda married David Richards on January 5th, 1974, and he survives.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, June DeVoy, father, Gene Maxwell, stepfather, Philip DeVoy, and one grandson, Logan David Fox.
In addition to her husband, Linda is survived by two daughters, Ellen Parmenter, (Nicholas), Vincennes, and Emily Blair, Evansville, and five grandchildren, Lauren and Owen Keyes, Aden Parmenter, and Eli and Livia Blair. Other survivors include her siblings, Glen Maxwell (Kathy), John Maxwell, Cheri Wargel (Mike), and Shawn DeVoy, all of Evansville; Keith Maxwell, Eastsound, WA; Melissa Maxwell, Indianapolis, and Mark DeVoy, Portland, OR, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Linda graduated from North High School, Evansville, in 1967, and Indiana State University in 1975. She held a variety of positions in her life, including sales, journalism, social work, and public relations. In addition to spending time with her family, she was an animal lover, avid reader, and loved to work on jigsaw puzzles.
Linda was a charter member of the Gadfly Readers, a member of the Knox County Humane Society and a life member of the Friends of the Knox County Public Library. Linda was also responsible for bringing the Little Free Library to the Timberlake community where she lived. She was a longtime donor to the Heifer Project.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date in place of a formal funeral service.
