Lee Edward Weiss, 64, formerly of Wadesville, Indiana, was born to Henry Edward and Doris Sue (Willett) Weiss on October 4, 1955. He completed his earthly journey at 7:44 a.m. on Friday, August 14, 2020, at Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon, Indiana.
Lee attended Saint Wendel Catholic School, North Posey High School, and Vincennes University, graduating in 1975. Lee spent most of his working years with Blankenberger Brothers, where he greatly enjoyed his time as a heavy equipment operator.
Lee’s interests/loves included his family, his church families/friends, being outdoors, fishing, mowing grass, and driving his tractor. Lee was especially fond of his caregivers at Mt. Vernon Nursing and Rehab, as long as they supplied BBQ Grippos and Cokes.
Lee, along with his Cross Country teammates, was inducted into the North Posey Athletic Hall of Fame on February 29, 2020. No longer limited by the effects of 24+ years of Parkinson’s Disease with Lewy Body, he is free to run again in the halls of heaven.
Lee was preceded in death by his mother (“Mother Sue”, Oct 1964); stepmother Charlotte Louise Weiss (“Mom”, Dec 1996); grandparents Edward and Justina (Kiesel) Weiss; and grandparents Leo and Mary (Williams) Willett; godfather Uncle Jack Pfettscher.
Lee is survived by his son Logan Weiss; father Henry; siblings Terrie Melton, Jim Weiss, Donna Brown, Bob Weiss, Cathy Funkhouser, Elizabeth Tooley, Jeanette Melton, Ralph Weiss, Marie Hoffman, Andy Weiss, Mary Jane Dewar, Rose Thomason, Ginny Minton; godmother and aunt Florentine Pfettscher. He is also survived by his aunts Rose Weiss and Marie Gumbel; uncle Tony Weiss; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lee’s family is grateful for the many who loved and cared for him throughout the years of his illness, including longtime friend Bob Thiem; St. Matthew Catholic Church (Tom and Cathie); IU Neurology (Dr. Joanne, Lora, Karla); Medtronic (Aaron); Heart to Heart Hospice, Mount Vernon Nursing and Rehabilitation (Brittany and her team).
Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2020 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St., Evansville IN and Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Alexander Memorial Park, Heritage Chapel. A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18 at Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery- Heritage Chapel with burial to follow.
