Lee Allen Sander, 46, of Evansville, IN passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was born on October 29, 1976. Lee was a 1994 graduate of Central High School, and went on to graduate at the University of Evansville in 1999. Lee worked as a farmer for nearly 30 years at Steve Elpers Farm along with Den and Brian Elpers.
Anyone that knew Lee, knows he loved the water. His passion and prized possession was his Malibu speed boat. His very best memories were sharing the love of boating with everyone. Lee was known as “Captain Lee” to anyone that got on the boat. He was in his element blaring music on the boat, while pulling tubers or someone wakeboarding, surfing or foiling. The lake was always a place that he could find the most joy and peace. Lee loved “Frontier Fridays” and developed a very close friend group from those Friday nights that he absolutely cherished. He learned to become a lover of old cars from going to Rick Nunn’s garage where he helped the guys refurbish cars. He was so proud and excited when he helped to get a difficult car engine restarted. Lee loved to entertain and was always the life of the party. If Lee was entertaining, you can bet there would be games of dice, darts, card games, and lots of loud music. He loved to make silly bets with people, which he almost always lost. He also had one of the most caring hearts and would help almost any stranger on the side of the road. Lee’s big smile was one of the most infectious smiles in this world and would melt anyone’s heart. His smile is something we will all take with us. Lee loved his Goldendoodle Reba. He loved his two kids with all his heart, and he loved watching Kaden dance and Grace cheer.
Lee’s life was taken too soon due to his own internal demons. It is a tragedy, unbearable, and incomprehensible for those of us that survived him. He simply could not see the worth and value in himself that we all saw. Lee struggled most of his life battling depression. Our hearts are forever shattered to lose another beautiful soul this way. We can now only find comfort in all the good memories, laughs, and great times that Lee gave us. Lee will forever be carried in all of our hearts. His memory will live on as we continue to share all the amazing moments that he gave to all of us. We can only pray that he has now found complete peace and that he can now see just how valued and loved he truly was.
Lee is survived by his wife, Jamie Sander; Father, Lloyd Sander; Step-mother, Diana Sander; Mother, Linda Steinkuhl; Son, Kaden Sander; Daughter, Grace Sander; Sister, Lauri Trentmon (Chris); Nieces, Gabby Lakes, Katelyn Rogus, Olyvia Lakes, Delaney Lakes; Sister-in-law, Krisite Lakes (Darrick); Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Rex and Sue Porter; Uncle, Mark Sander; Aunt, Vickie Wallace; Close friends, Anna and Brian Hill, Loving friend, Kathy Curtis.
