He was a pastor for almost 22 years and was a licensed minister with Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ. Kerry loved missions and mission trips, his first trip was to Chile. He started a home missions work in 2000 and reached many people. Kerry was also a microbiologist for Meade Johnson for 41 years. He was an incredibly talented songwriter and musician, especially on the piano, organ and trumpet. Kerry also sang with the Evansville Philharmonic Gospel Nights, led the Indiana Mass Choir and was an amazing choir director. He grew up in a family of farmers, growing watermelon, cantaloupe, corn and beans. He was an avid gardener and raised chickens. Kerry loved the Cincinnati Reds, ice cream and various kinds of cheese. He loved people, never met a stranger and put joy and warmth in everything. Kerry was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and Poppy.
Kerry was preceded to glory by his mother, Patricia (McClellen) Davis.
He is awaiting his wife of 37 years, Kathy (Ashby) Davis; children, Nathanael Davis (Gillaine), Hannah Hastie (William), and Matthew Davis (Kaitlin); grandchildren, Liam Davis Hastie, Lincoln Davis, Crosby Hastie, and Norah Davis; father, Joel Davis (Chris); mother-in-law, Mattie Ashby; sister, Deborah Jo; step-brothers, Michael Moran and Jonathan Moran; step-sister, Joy Lee; and his grand dog, Pepper Davis.
Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Christ Temple Apostolic Church, 1401 South Weinbach Avenue with Rev. Michael Moran officiating. He will be laid to rest following at Oak Hill Cemetery. The viewing will be on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church.
