She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Jane Baechle, and her first husband of twenty-seven years, Charles Boyer.
She is survived by her husband Michael Conner, her sister Sandra Raben, and her children and grandchildren: Stephanie Wilson and her son Tanner of Evansville; Brice and Julie Boyer and their children Grace, Madelyn, and Zachary of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Ryan and Gina Boyer and their children Titus, Riley, and Baechle of Racine, Wisconsin.
Karen grew up on the West Side of Evansville, attending Sacred Heart Grade School and later graduated from Mater Dei High School. Her family also were also members of the Sacred Heart Catholic parish.
Karen met her first husband Charlie on a blind date. After a few years of dating, they married and started their lives together in Mount Vernon, IN. Two years into their lives they were blessed with Stephanie, followed by Ryan after four years, and Brice completing their family two years later.
Karen loved to travel, working for AAA in her early years, and later as a travel agent for Ambassador Travel where she shared her passion with others, helping fulfill their desires to see the country and satisfying her own travel bug. She later transitioned into banking, working for Citizens (later 5/3) Bank. This allowed her more time to support her kids with their numerous sports and activities.
Karen and Charlie were married until he passed from renal cell cancer on June 9, 1994 at the tragic age of 47. During his two year battle with the disease, Karen cared for and supported Charlie, giving him and his treatment the necessary attention.
In the years following Charles’ death, with her children working and attending college, Karen became involved at Christian Fellowship Church and took the step of baptism as a public confession of her faith in Christ, a faith that had been cultivated through her childhood that blossomed in her later years. During this season of life she also met her husband of twenty years, Michael. Together they shared many years of travel and celebrated the birth of seven grandchildren. Though her last years were marked by declined health, she had the blessing of a committed husband.
Karen’s love for cooking was something she passed on to all her kids, often planning special meals for family gatherings. She cherished holidays and special occasions when all her family, especially her grandkids, would gather together. Karen’s passing will leave an absence in the lives and hearts of her loved ones.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Deaconess Hospice for their amazing care. Also VNA Plus and Grace Care Center for care provided over the years
