Joseph E. Gentry, 96, of Evansville, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at Good Samaritan Home. He was born July 12, 1916, in Evansville.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired from ALCOA. He was an active member and Sunday school teacher at Immanuel Presbyterian Church.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Mary “Frankie” Gentry; brothers, Alvin and Frank Gentry; and sisters, Elizabeth, Francis and Mary.
He is survived by his son, Ronald “Ed” Gentry (Paula) of Waltonville, IL; grandchildren, Ronald Gentry, Jr. of Waltonville, IL, Mark A. Gentry (Debbie) of Evansville, Daniel E. Gentry (Mary Beth) of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Ronald III, Meghan, Andrew and Jennifer Gentry; brother, John J. Gentry; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Dr. George Stiles, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
