Obituary of Joseph B. Drury
Joseph B. Drury, 84, of Evansville, IN passed away on July 25, 2024 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. He was born April 19, 1940, in Evansville, to the late Joseph and Iona (Snively) Drury. Joe served in the United States Air Force from 1959-1962 and was stationed in Everett Washington, Okinawa, Japan and Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. He retired in 2007 from ABF Air Freight with a little over 42 years of truck driving and being a member of the over 4 million mile club. Prior to his employment at ABF he worked at Federal Produce, Eastern Express, Chief Freight Lines, RCA, and TMX as well as many others. He was a member of the Evansville Eagles Aerie 427 where he enjoyed visiting with members, listening to music and watching line dancing. He was a self-taught woodworker making many beautiful pieces of furniture and enjoyed taking on small projects for relatives and friends. He was an animal lover and fed the many neighborhood cats, nearby wildlife and bird watching. In 1981, he and Joyce made many excursions riding their motorcycle to Niagara Falls, the Smokey Mountains, Pigeon Forge and many other destinations with their close motorcycle friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Joyce A. (Woods) Drury; son, Daniel Drury; and brothers, Don and Ken Drury. He is survived by his daughter, Patti (John) Kivett of Plainfield; son, Tony (Denise) Drury of Martinsville; grandchildren, Trey (Tawni) Kivett, Lindsay (Keegan) Sussman, Kasey (Kristen) Drury, Haley (Caleb) McGinnis, Bryan (Amber) Weddle; 9 great grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Debby (Dennis) Nobles of Mt. Vernon, Linda Dossett of Mt. Vernon, Rose Woods of Evansville and Shirley Hajek of Evansville; brother-in-law, Jerry Woods of Clayton; sister-in-laws, Elizabeth Drury and Carol Drury; and many, many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2024, at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St., Evansville IN with burial in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed beginning at 11:20 a.m. at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA Friends may visit on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
