John J. Slack

John J. Slack, 83, of Carmel, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. He was born on May 26, 1940 in Columbus, Ohio. He was educated in schools in Miamisburg and Xenia, Ohio. John graduated from The Ohio State University in 1964. His business career included executive positions with Federated Department Stores, Associated Dry Goods, and Limited Stores, prior to becoming an Executive with Service Corporation International in Houston, Texas. John was a life-time member of The Ohio State University Alumni Association and was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was preceded in death his father, Dr. Albert L. Slack and mother, Kathryn G. Slack. John is survived by his wife and life-companion, Sharon Barnes Slack; daughters, Cynthia Lynn Martin (Joe) and Angela Nicole Williams (Ryan); grandchildren, Joseph Bernard Martin, Jr. (Laura), John Patrick Martin (Kristie), Courtney Lynn Martin (Mark White), Avery Nicole Williams, Blake Ryan Williams, and Cade Matthew Williams; and great-grandchildren, Charlotte (Elle) Martin, Joseph Bernard Martin, III “Buddy”, John Francis Martin, IV “Jack”, and Emelia Siobhan Martin. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, Indiana 47720 with Pastor Gene Backes officiating.
