Janna Van Coleman, 39, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 4, 2025. Born on December 22, 1985, to Daniel R. Coleman and Janice Dixon Coleman in Jackson, Tennessee, Janna was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her.
Janna was a twin and grew up with a deep sense of family and community. In 1992, she moved with her family to Newburgh, Indiana, before settling on Evansville’s west side, where she graduated from Reitz High School in 2004. Janna’s journey of education led her from Murray State University to the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, where she earned her nursing degree. As a registered nurse, she cared for patients across several states, making a profound impact on those she served until 2021. Janna's compassion and dedication to helping others were evident in every aspect of her life.
A true lover of animals, Janna's heart was especially drawn to horses, dogs, and cats. She selflessly fostered many dogs until they were found loving homes. Nature also held a special place in her heart, and she had an undeniable gift for nurturing plants and flowers, always bringing vibrant life into her surroundings. Her love for thrifting led her on countless adventures where she carefully picked out treasures she thought would bring joy to her family. Above all, Janna was known for her generosity, whether through her cooking, her care for others, or her heartfelt support of her loved ones.
Although Janna did not have children of her own, she adored her niece and nephews with all her heart, and they were a constant source of joy in her life. Her lifelong friends, including Brittney, Samantha, Heather, Molly, Elaine, and Kim, were a treasured part of her journey, and she valued these deep, enduring relationships more than words could express.
Janna was a devout Christian, and her strong faith in Jesus Christ provided her with unwavering strength and peace. Her belief in love, kindness, and grace was evident in the way she lived her life and the way she cared for those around her.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Rev. Bill and Sharon Coleman; maternal grandparents, Charles and Barbara Dixon; cousin, Andy Bogan; and her aunt, Diana VanMeter.
Janna is survived by her mother, Janice Dixon Coleman; father, Daniel R. Coleman (Cindy); brother, Joshua Coleman (Morgan); sister, Jessie Coleman Conaty (Adam); nephews, Reid, Grant, Ben, and Finn; niece, Nora; aunts and uncles, Theresa and Tony Bogan, John and Julie Dixon, Debbie and Ron Burks, Doreen and Johnny Jones, Bob VanMeter; and many cousins, including Eric, Casey, Charlie, Brittany, Jordan, Tanner, Lee, Jennifer, Julie, Rebecca, and Rachel.
