Janie L Scott

Janie Lou (Lewis) Scott, 77, of Evansville, IN passed away at the Linda E. White Hospice House on Thursday, March 9, 2023 with her family by her side. Janie was born on November 28, 1945 to the late J. Virgil and Dorothy Lewis in Greenville, KY. After graduating as the Salutatorian of Graham High School’s Class of 1963, she married Jerry L. Scott of Graham, KY. The newlyweds moved to Indianapolis, IN, where Janie worked as a typist and an administrative assistant for Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company. A lifelong learner, she returned to school in 1985, subsequently earning an Associate of Arts Degree from the Madisonville Community College, Madisonville, KY, with an emphasis in mathematics. Janie enjoyed reading, sewing, completing various craft projects, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. Janie will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jerry Scott; her brother, J. Dwight Lewis; her daughter, Johanna (Scott) West; her grandson, Morgan West, and her granddaughter, Meagan (West) Dragt; and her beloved dog, Taffy. Janie was preceded in death by her parents, J. Virgil and Dorothy Lewis; and her daughter, Jeanetta Scott. Visitation will be held at Alexander Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, Evansville IN, on Tuesday, March 14, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
