James was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 6, 1929 to the late Henry Earl and Ruth A. (Bach) Vinson. He worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Company for 30 plus years, retiring in 1987. James was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and trustee. He enjoyed woodworking, was always available to others, loved his family and set the standard for being a wonderful dad, husband, grandfather, and friend to all. James was a hard worker, a wonderful provider, and loved spending time with his family.
James is survived by his children, Teresa Silke, Robert Vinson (Michelle), Harry Vinson (Angie); grandchildren, Donald (Judy), Jeff, Zack, Erik and Will Vinson, Scott Silke (Elizabeth), and Andrea (Bob) Gresham; great grandchildren, Kinsey Vinson, Kegan Gresham, Shealy Gresham, Abigail Vinson, Destin Gresham, Noble Vinson, Brock Gresham, Kie Silke and Morgan Silke; and several nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bettye (Barrett) Vinson; his parents; and 7 siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, IN 47711 with Rev. Kirk Horstmeyer officiating. Entombment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends and family may visit from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Browning Funeral Home and again from 10:00 AM until service time on Wednesday.
