

He graduated from Jasper High School and attended Indiana State University Teachers College and attended the Art Institute of New York. He owned and operated Sermersheim’s Corvette for 45 years.
James was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. He was a member of the Road Knights, West Side Nut Club, and the Old Damn Band in Newburgh. He served in the US Army and played trumpet in the US Army Band. He was also a serious bass fisherman.
James is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carolyn Sermersheim; sister, Ramona Johnson (Howard), New Albany, IN; brothers-in-law, Leeland Bumb, Evansville, David Schroeder, Wadesville; nieces, Jessica Bumb Stock, Shannon Schroeder, Jean Johnson; nephews, Allen Schroeder, Jeff Johnson, and Dean Johnson.
Services will be 1:00PM, Monday, June 17, 2013, at Alexander West Chapel with burial in Alexander Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit, Monday from 10:00AM until service time at the funeral home.
