Obituary of James Robert Niemeier
James “Jim” Robert Niemeier of Evansville, Indiana passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at the age of 86. He was born on June 8, 1936 in Evansville, IN where he grew up with his father, Wilbert “Whip”, mother, Catherine “Kate”, and brother, Theodore “Ted”. Jim graduated from Reitz High School in 1954. From there, Jim enlisted in the US Army where he was stationed at Fort Knox for basic training then Ludwigsburg, Germany. After his discharge, he completed an Associate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering at Lain Technical Institute. Jim liked playing golf, going to his home in Kentucky, and fishing. He liked having new cars and enjoyed family events and holidays. Some special traditions included birthday dinners and driving through the Fantasy of Lights with Ruby and Jordan. Jim also loved listening to country music and 50s music when driving. He worked many different jobs at various places, but the highlight of his career was working as president of North American Green. Jim was actively involved at St Paul UCC and the local little league baseball where he served as commissioner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert “Whip” and Catherine “Kate” (Mueller) Niemeier. Jim is survived by his wife, Ruby; sons, Mike (Alicen) and Tim (Angie); granddaughter, Jordan; and brother, Ted. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W Illinois St. on Friday, September 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Alexander Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at the funeral home.
