Linda, Jim and Marsha, I remember meeting Bob when I was a teenager and working with him at the pottery. Bob invited me to his home on the hill by Burdette Park. We went duck hunting many years together, eventually going our seperate ways. But I never forgot Bob and Linda for the hospitality. I would run into Bob from time to time and we would talk about the our times at the pottery, duck hunting and to see which one of us had shot the biggest buck. Bob will be missed by all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Mattingly family. I will forever miss him driving around the farm and our conversations at the truck about hunting.

Linda, Jim, and Lori, I will keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers. Sorry about the loss of Bob.

Roberta, as I fondly called him from time to time was my best friend and partner in deeds growing up throughout our childhood days to the present time.  I hope that Bob new that even though I never told him so.  His loss has left a void in many hearts, but I am so honored to have known him.  We grew up learning to smoke as kids would, trying to be cool, spent our time swimming at the old salt water pool at Burdette Park, sometimes four times a week, fished "Lilly" creek so many times, worked together at Burdette Park, and duck hunted for many a year.  As life evolved, we solved all the world's problem either at his home or riding in his truck cruising the bottoms.  Bob and I grew up poor as some might say, but we didn't know it at the time because our lives experienced so many rich moments together.  Two days ago, Bob stopped by the house to share about two hours to talk about everything and nothing.  He was interested in buying a new heating and air system for his home so that Linda would not have to worry about the old one breaking down.  For those that never new Bob as I did, you really missed out. Bobby was as good as you could find anywhere.  He touched me and so many others in a most profound way.  Time heals most heart aches and with our fond memories, we will smile when we think about our Bob.  His heart may have been physically weak, but it was so strong in so many ways.  His life was not in vain as Linda, Jim, and Lori will testify in the days ahead.  One day, I pray, with God's help of course, that I will see Bobby again, that we will fish again, that we will duck hunt again, and that we will solve the world's problems one more time. Big Ed, Doctor Dick, and Backhoe Bobby cared so wonderfully for Farmer John.  We have such good memories of Bob.  Thank you for sharing him with us. We will miss him. Jim, Ruth, and John Baize

Terry and I have so many memories of Bob.  We remember meeting him as a teenager.  Only the best would be good enough for my best friend and the minute I met Bob  I liked him.  I will never forget how they looked, him tall her short riding up on a horse together.  Our lives were changed forever because like it should be, Bob became Linda's best friend for life.  They married a couple of weeks before Terry and I.  I went with her to help her pick out a beautiful dress (boots and jeans would not do for their wedding).  Bob was so responsible even at a young age.  He worked his entire life to provide for his family.  His great love for Linda extended to their family. We remember his chest nearly busting with pride when their first child, Jim, was born.  We saw his heart melt when their baby girl, Lori, was born.  She wrapped him around her little finger.  Every girl should have an adoring father like Bob.  Our children played together and gave us all the joy a parent could have and later when the teen years were sometimes joyful, sometimes tough, Bob was the same as he had always been.  He was steady, faithful and strong.  He got to enjoy seeing his daughter married to a good man and watched as Jim and his wife made him a Grandpa.  When he held Slade, we saw the same look of pride as when Jim was born.  Lori is a wonderful daughter.  Bob and Linda were blessed with a great love.  They always did everything as a team and their life together showed it.  We will always be proud to call them friends.  We are comforted by the fact that someday there will be a reunion in heaven where joy will replace our sorrow.
