She was a lifelong member of West Side Christian Church and held many offices of various organizations including AARP West and Church Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed sewing and sewed a total of 582 bears, dolls, and pound puppies for police to carry in their cars for children.
Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Paul B. Sherrill, Sr; son, Paul B. Sherrill, Jr.; brothers, Aubrey G, Ursel, Robert and Donald Freeman; and great-granddaughter, Becky Deig Evans.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela M. (David, Sr.) Armitage and Shiela (Ken) Jackson; grandchildren, Bambi Schemel (Robert) Deig, Dava Schemel (Robert) Grzybowski, Daniel Schemel, David L. Armitage, Jr., Kate Sherrill (James) House, Christine Sherrill, Shelly Jackson Willis, Kendra Jackson Owen, and Phillip (Mike) Jackson; great-grandchildren, Brittany Deig (Brandon) Givens, Brandon (Amber) Deig, Nolan (Beth) Schemel, Danialle Schemel, Adam (Samantha) Grzybowski, Cassie (Drew) Gryzbowski, Tim Hansen, Joseph Oliver, Steven Owen, Chatta Owen, Chloe Walsh, Macon Reddish and Aurora (Rory) Sherrill; nine great, great-grandchildren; brothers, John (Bev) Freeman and Sam (Patricia) Freeman, Jr.; and 15 nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the following people with Gentiva Hospice: Casey Wilson, Tracie Arthur, Jennifer Zirt, Theresa Duncan and Dr. Hall, who came to our home to help our mom have a less painful remainder of her life.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
