Jack E. Massie, Sr., 85, of Evansville, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at Linda White Hospice. He was born November 17, 1932 in Evansville to the late Carl Lee Massie and Maxine (Spencer) Pritchett.
He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from Flexsteel. Jack was a member of Riverbend and the OWLS.
He loved keeping a garden, tending to his flowers and camping.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Mayme (Louise) Massie; son, Jack Massie, Jr.; a brother, and four sisters.
He is survived by daughter, Patricia Phillips, son-in-law Sam Phillips and daughter, Pamela Massie; daughter-in-law, Kitty Massie; grandchildren, Jack (Mandy) Massie III, Shaun Massie, Chris (Hollie) Phillips, Adam (Melissa) Phillips. Amber (Monte) and Kyle Freels, Wendy (Gary) Ashley and Steve Russell; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family would like to thank Deaconess Trauma ICU and Deaconess VNA Hospice for their care.
A Funeral Service will be 10:00AM, Friday, December 1, 2017 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street, with burial in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 3:00 to 7:00PM Thursday, November 30, 2017 and Friday from 9:00AM to service time at the funeral home.
