He was the father of 6 children and graduated from Central High School in 1947. He was employed by Delta Airlines in 1952 as a Ramp Service Agent at Evansville Regional Airport and later at Palm Beach International Airport, West Palm Beach, FL. He transferred to West Palm Beach, Florida in 1981; retiring in 1985 in Lake Worth, Florida after 32 years with Delta. In 1997 he moved back to Evansville after 15 years in Florida.
Hoop was a well-known professional drummer since 1943. He played with numerous local Swing, Dixieland and Jazz bands in Evansville and in South Florida. He last played with The Jeff Harmon Jazz group of Evansville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley (Glaser) Campfield; parents, Luther R. Campfield and Minnie Belle Baggett-Campfield and brother, Donald L. Campfield.
Hoop is survived by sons; Roger L. Campfield, Daniel F. Campfield; Christopher D. Campfield (Kimberley); daughters, Julie R. Beherns (Kenneth), Carol A. Costa, Laura J. Campfield; brother, Martin L. Campfield; 9 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 5:00PM, Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel. Friends may visit from 3:00PM until 7:00PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
