He was born on February 12, 1937, in Evansville to the late Oliver (Ollie) W. Fuchs and Wilma M. Fuchs.
Jerry graduated in 1956 from Bosse High School in Evansville, IN. Following graduation, he received his Mechanical Arts certification.
Following high school, Jerry joined the Navy Reserve where he served this great country for 8 years. During that time, he also completed an apprenticeship at George Koch & Sons. He continued on into fulltime employment at George Koch & Sons as a Tool and Die Machinist for 42 years.
Jerry enjoyed many activities that brought him great joy and recognition throughout his life such as bowling (won the Press All Star Crown Tournament December, 18, 1978 with a high score of 213.9), racket ball, fishing, golf (shot a hole in one at Helfrich’s Men’s Golf Club) and trail riding with his kids (priceless memories).
He and his wife, Paulette M. Fuchs, of 44 years, met on a blind date and married three months later. They have loved and supported one another since the day they met.
Jerry loved traveling with his wife and enjoyed life’s greatest gifts and blessings such as celebrating birthdays, family dinners, family picnics and special occasions with his children. Spending time with his grandchildren was the joy of his life.
Jerry was a long-time member of Blue Grass Church where he enjoyed participating in church functions and volunteering whenever needed.
He is survived by: Wife, Paulette (Gibbs) Fuchs; Children: Danny Fuchs (Marilyn) of Huber Heights, OH; Gary Fuchs of Evansville, IN; Sally Fuchs Johnson of Salem, IL; Brian Duvall (Missie) of Clay City, IL. Grandchildren: Josh Hauser, Jake Hauser, Travis Fuchs, Tyler Fuchs, Ashley Strickland, Josh Fancher, Amanda Harris, Amy Fancher, Matthew Duvall, and Brandon Duvall and 14 Great Grandchildren. Extended Family: Carol Cobb (sister-in-law) of Fishers, IN; Craig Cobb (brother-in-law) of Fishers, IN; Freddie Gibbs (sister-in-law) of Littleton, CO; Johnathan Cobb (nephew) of Newburgh, IN; Andrea Fowler (niece) of Louisville, KY; Dena Thorley (niece) of Arvada, CO; Laura Carr (niece) of Fishers, IN.
He is preceded in death by: Infant Daughter, Cheryl Fuchs; Grandson, Derek Fancher; Daughter-In-Law, Laura Fuchs; Nephew, Eric Gibbs; Stepmother, Mildred Fuchs.
A Funeral Service will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Ave. Evansville, IN with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
Paulette and the family, wish to extend their sincerest thanks to the caring staff of North Park Nursing Center especially the Cottage Memory Unit where Jerry was cared for with love and compassion. Additionally, thank you to Gentiva Hospice for their care and support which has been invaluable to the family.
