George Charles Reese, 96, of Evansville, passed away Friday, November 21, 2014, at Pine Haven Health & Rehabilitation Center. He was born July 15, 1918, in Evansville, to the late John C. and Rosa (Wassmer) Reese.
He was a Vanderburgh County farmer for many years, worked for the Bricklayer's Union Mason Local #4, and retired from the Evansville Library after over ten years of service. He was a lifetime member of the Owls and a member of the Eagles. He enjoyed cooking molasses.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Verneda (Dierlam) Reese; sons, George F., Frederick "Fritz", and Earl "Butch" Reese; and daughter, Shirley A. Carter.
He is survived by his children, Rose Mabern, John (Ruth) Reese, Jim (Shonece) Reese, Leonard (Jeanie) Reese, Linda (Joe) Hornby, Roy Reese, Sandra (Allen) Riley, Charlie Reese, and Danny Reese; daughters-in-law, Diane, Joanie, and Cindy Reese; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Genevieve McGuire, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home,
