He retired from the Evansville Police Department in 1985 and Evansville Concrete in 1995.
Gene was a member of the Evansville Masonic Lodge 64, Scottish Rite of Evansville, Hadi Shrine Drum & Bugle Corp, Hadi Hospital Staff, NoRuz Grotto, Swords of Bunker Hill, and F.O.P. Lodge 73.
He was a Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War. Gene was also a member of VFW 1114 and Riverbend Association.
Gene was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Carter; and sister, Peggy Watson.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Felker; son, Brian Felker; step-sons, Robert Durham and Wesley Knight; step-daughter, Elaine Bogard; grandson, Jeremy Carter of Bowling Green, KY; and nephew, James Watson of Powder Springs, GA.
Services will held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Ping with burial at Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander North Chapel. Hadi Hospital Staff and Drum & Bugle Corp walk-through will be held at 6:45 PM. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held by the Evansville Lodge 64 at 7:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hadi Hospital Transportation Fund or Alzheimer’s Association.
