Obituary of Gail Robert Norman, Sr.
Gail Robert Norman Sr., 81, passed from this life on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at home with his family. He was born on November 25, 1936, to the late Herman Joe Norman and Helen Mary Reis Norman. Gail was a longtime resident of Gail Drive (named for him) in Evansville, IN. He most recently lived in Indianapolis, IN, with his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Sue Cox Norman, and their daughter’s family. Gail retired from a career as an assembly line worker of 32 years at Whirlpool in December of 1996. He was an active member of St. Philip’s Church for 18 years and Sacred Heart for 31+ years. He played guitar in Down Home Country Band for 22 years. He also loved to garden and was a member of Save Our Land and Environment for many years. He always took care of other people, at times as a foster parent, and other times as a caregiver to his family members. Gail loved his family more than anything. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Herman Joe Norman, Jr., Jim Anthony Norman, Jean Norman Roth, and William Donald Norman. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Sue Cox Norman; brother, Paul Richard Norman of Kentucky, children, Susan Gayle Norman Bergstrom (Steve) of Mt. Vernon, IN, Terry Lynn Norman True (Roy) of Indianapolis, IN, Gail Robert Norman Jr. of Evansville, IN, Randall Gordon Norman (Angie) of Evansville, IN, and Rodger Alan Norman (Andrea) of Evansville, IN; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2701 West Franklin Street, Evansville, IN 47712, officiated by Father John Brosmer, with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at church.
