Frederick John Droege, 91, of Evansville, IN passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 30, 2023. He was born in Wadesville, IN on October 21, 1932 to the late Fred Simon Droege and Valada B. (Reese) Droege.
Fred graduated from Wadesville High School, where he played basketball. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Knox and Fort Benjamin Harrison. He worked in the paint department at Whirlpool.
He was a member of St. Peter’s United Methodist Church. Fred was an avid gardener and enjoyed being in his yard and working with his flowers. He was also a big IU basketball fan.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Viola Rowland, Lucille Pfettscher, Edna Mosby and Alvin Droege Sr.; and step-son, Ronald Runk.
He is survived by his children, Stephen, Kenneth (Marilyn), John Droege and Connie (Runk) Hasken; grandchildren, Michael Droege, Mandy Butze, Crystal Cox, Britney Morrison, Ashley Corry, Danielle Deemer, Brandon Lee Droege, Scott Hasken, and Robert Hasken; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and close friends, Chris Walker, Don Pohl and Tyler Metcalf.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at St. Peter’s Church on the Hill (previously known as St. Peter’s United Methodist Church) 2800 St. Phillips Road. Fred's service will be officiated by Pastor Jeff Long.
Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the church.
Fred’s final resting place will be in St. Peter’s United Methodist Church Cemetery.
