Frank served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Pennsylvania, where he was involved in combat battle. He was Co-Owner of Commercial Landscaping and Hillside Gardens for over 45 years. Frank loved the outdoors, farming, gardening, talking about his life in the service, giving advice and helping others. He loved talking to salesman and visitors at the garden center telling stories while taking them for a gator ride. Frank loved his donuts, sweets and coffee. He also enjoyed evening and weekend visits from family and friends.
He had two angels that cared for him, his right hand man and many other loving and caring friends that checked in on him throughout the years. He will be missed by many.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Alvina “Rosie” Duncan; brothers, Norman and Claude; sisters, Barbara Patton and Jane Yates; granddaughter, Tamara Ours.
He is survived by his sons, Tom Duncan, Pete Duncan, Alan (Nellie) Ours; daughters, Lorie Duncan, Donna (Darrel) DeLong; grandchildren, Teresa Eickhoff, Tonya Hurshman, Troy Ours, Dana Deckard, Darren DeLong as well as grandchildren from California with many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank MSA Hospice and Bethel Manor for the compassionate care provided during his illness.
A memorial service will be held 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Alexander West Chapel. Friends may visit on Tuesday 4:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
A private graveside service was held at St Paul’s United Church of Christ where Frank was laid to rest.
