Eugene Frank Farney, 77, of Evansville, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born January 15, 1939 to the late Naurice and Helen (Wegener) Farney. Eugene was an active member of Salem Church of Darmstadt.
He was a 1957 graduate of North High School. He founded and operated Farney’s Turkey Processing plant for 18 years. Eugene was a turkey and grain farmer and liked doing machine work on his tractors and other farm equipment. He also enjoyed playing cards and country dances.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary (Kissel) Farney; daughter, Kimberly Hayes and husband Brian; son, Frank Farney and wife Brenda; grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Nobles of Henderson, KY, Tina (Colin) Ward of Evansville, Alicia (Jason) Hoefling of Ft. Branch, Susan Hayes of Evansville, Justin Farney of Elberfeld and Brandon Farney of Ft. Branch; sisters, Geraldine (Darwin) Martin and Roselyn (Kenneth) Hansen; brothers, Vernon (Lola) Farney and Charles (Ann) Farney, all of Evansville; nieces, nephews, and many sister and brother-in-law, and friends.
Funeral Services will be 10:00AM, Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Salem Church Darmstadt, 14134 Darmstadt Road, officiated by Rev. David Peterson, with burial to follow in Salem Church Cemetery. Friends may visit 3:00PM to 8:00PM Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road and Thursday from 9:00AM to service at the church.
