She graduated from Reitz High School in 1946. She married Phil Heston in 1949 and they were married 62 years. Edna and Phil had two daughters and Edna became a fulltime homemaker. She not only enjoyed being a homemaker, but she excelled in this role as well. Edna was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was an incredible blessing to her family.
Edna was part of the original group who first met when Christian Fellowship Church began. She was involved in many volunteer activities at the church including the ministry to International Students. She also volunteered with Young Life ministries and attended the All City Bible Class. She and her husband, Phil, have been long time supporters of the Evansville Rescue Mission and Camp Reveal. Edna also prayed for and supported numerous missionaries from Christian Fellowship Church and Campus Crusade for Christ. Edna was an extremely caring person. Her life was centered on her deep abiding faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Phil Heston; daughters, Kathy Abbott and husband, David, and Jan Stiver and husband, Phil, all of Evansville; grandchildren, Christy Alvey and husband, John, of Evansville, Julia Condict and husband, Curt, Alex Abbott and wife, Erin, all of Zionsville, IN, Anna Lockhart and husband, Andy, of Raleigh, NC, Sarah Hubert and husband, Adam, of Evansville, and Becca Clark and husband, Jason, of Colorado Springs, CO; great-grandchildren, Austin Abbott, Jacob and Joel Alvey, Elise Condict and Graham, Loey and Tucker Hubert; sister, Wilma Cook of Evansville; and niece, Judy Littrell of Newburgh.
Services celebrating Edna’s life will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Christian Fellowship Church, 4100 Millersburg Road, officiated by Rev. David Niednagel, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue.
