Edith M. Ward

Edith was a member of Harwood Baptist Church.

She attended Emma Roach Grade School and the Old Central High School.

Edith loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, cooking.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Due to her declining health in recent years, she was a resident of the Columbia Nursing Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elva Willett; sister, Ellen Winn; and brother, Jerome Willett.

Edith is survived by her husband of 65 years, Archie Ward; daughter, Patricia Vordtriede (Bill); son, Robert Ward (Opal); daughter, Wanda Schultz; nine grandchildren, Everett Hodge, Bobby Ward, Michael Blemker, Jamie Young, Michelle Graman, Wendy Arledge, April Brown, Karen Madison, and Tara Pierce; 12 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; brothers, Elmer, Delmer, Bob, and Bill Willett; sisters, Mary Boerner and Barbara Curtis.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Karl Crowe, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday, from 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Deaconess Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
