Edith Ann Smith, 86, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2020. She was born on June 25, 1933 in Huntington, West Virginia to Dessie Mae (Ross) Miley and Basil Miley. Edith Ann moved to Southern Indiana when she was a young child.
She was preceded in death by husband Bill W. Smith; sisters, Mary Louise Hill and Betty June Dobbins; and son John Richard Bullock.
Edith Ann was a longtime employee of Sears and most recently retired from St. Mary’s as a health care sitter.
Edith Ann is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Joanne Muth (Donald W. Muth) of Newburgh, IN; son, Norman L Ingram (Bill Wagner) of Long Beach, CA; granddaughters, Deanna Marie Muth Newburgh, IN and Andra Joy Kidd (Gerald Kidd) of Denver, CO; great-granddaughters, Anne-Marie Muth of Newburgh, IN, Ani Leigh Love of Denver, CO, and Rhiannon Dawn Pawlowski of Newburgh, IN; niece, Debbie L. King of Evansville, IN; and a big bunch of nephews.
Edith Ann was the beginning of these 4 generations of Ann’s. She inspires us by her love for her family, friends, and her little dog Yuki. Norman said it best when he described Mom as “Our hero, our friend, we will miss our daily talks, and her strength, and her wisdom; but most of all, we will miss our Mom.”
We give Special thanks for the compassionate care given to Edith Ann by her physician, Dr. Elizabeth Francis, Claire and Darcy of Kindred Hospice, and her wonderful neighbors Dianne and Tracy, Bob, and Jerry and Dianne who helped her in any way they could any time she asked and many times when she didn’t.
A Celebration of LIfe Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on her birthday, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Alexander Memorial Park, Chapel of Remembrance, with Chaplain Randy Bechtel officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the Mausoleum Chapel.
