Emma “Katie” Kathryn (Hinton) McLaughlin, 102, of Evansville passed away Friday October 21, 2022. She was born August 30, 1920 in Sullivan, KY to the late Newman and Beulah (Vickery) Hinton.
Katie graduated from Sturgis High School where she was a member of the National Beta Honor Society. She went on to attend St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Bramwells Business College, and Georgia’s Modeling School. Katie was employed in Vanderburgh County Offices as Deputy Recorder, Deputy Clerk Treasurer, and was member of the Voter’s Registration. She served 11 years as a judge in Minor Court and 12 years as Justice of the Peace. Katie also worked for the Indiana Department of Revenue.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; daughter, Pam Cooper; and granddaughter in law, Misty Cooper.
Katie is survived by her grandsons; Greg Cooper and Jeff Cooper (Joanne); great grandsons, Ryan Cooper and Payton Cooper; and four nephews.
Per Katie’s wishes, there will be no services held. Private entombment will be held at Alexander Memorial Park.
