Dot was born in 1932 in Indianapolis, IN to Leroy & Rachel Keely. Soon after, the family moved to California, where she and her sisters and brother were raised. In 1950 she met and married her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, James Thomas “Tom” McGIll. Dot and Tom had five children before moving to Corydon, KY in 1966 where they opened and operated McGill’s Market. Several years later, Dot and Tom moved to Evansville, IN. Dot always enjoyed working outside the home. She worked for Wolfe’s Auto Auction until she was 87 years old, finally retiring in December 2019.
Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Tom McGill; daughter Donna Jones; sister, Janet DePew; and grandson, Paul Madison.
She is survived by her children, Dale McGill, Jack McGill, Sandy Hanes, and Jerry McGill along with her sister Pat Leonard of California; Mike Britt of Virginia; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildnren.
