Doris S. Klein, 90, of Evansville, passed away Monday, July 21, 2014, at Deaconess VNA Plus Charlier Hospice Center. She was born February 10, 1924, in Evansville, to the late Claude and Frances (Thacker) Stocker.
She worked in the lab at Mead Johnson for 16 years and was a life-long member of Central United Methodist Church. She was also a wonderful caregiver, having cared for her husband who was wounded in the Korean War, her invalid father, and her mother to age 95. Doris loved to travel and loved flowers. She also loved animals. She had dogs all her life and enjoyed feeding the birds, deer and rabbits that came into her yard.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband of over 30 years, William Klein, in 1984.
She is survived by her brothers-in-law, Otto (Dot) and Larry Klein; sister-in-law, Carol (Jack) Cox, and their families; very special cousins, Jim (Linda) Thacker and family and Joyce (Mark) Hubbard and their children, Andy, Ryan and Adam Hubbard, whom Doris thought of as her boys; and cousins, Vangie Phillips, Alice Herschelman and Bill Worman. She is also survived by Diana (Charles) Stallings and Barbara (Keith) Conway; and many other family members and dear friends.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Kevin Reed, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
