Doris J. Coon

Doris grew up on the Westside in Evansville and was confirmed at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. She graduated from F. J. Reitz High School in 1965.

Doris was employed at the University of Southern Indiana.

Doris loved planting flowers, reading, traveling, and going on shopping trips with relatives and friends.

Doris is survived by her husband of 39 years, Bruce Coon of Henderson, Ky; sisters Mary Jane Scheucher (Tom) of Elberfeld, Ind and Linda Ray of North Vernon, Ind; brother-in-law Harold Leslie Jenkins of Evansville; nieces Jean Devine (Andy) and Julie Jenkins Eder both of Evansville; nephews Jeff Ray of Bloomington, Ind and Joey Ray of North Vernon Ind; great nieces Alyssa Devine and Claudia Eder both of Evansville; great nephews Brandon Devine, Mitchell Eder, and Griffin Eder all of Evansville, and several cousins.

Doris is preceded in death by an infant son Danny Lee Coon, her mother Helen (Baer) McCoy, her father William O. McCoy, and a sister Ann (McCoy) Jenkins.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lucy Smith Care Center, St. Anthony's Hospice for the compassionate care and dedicated attention given to Doris during her stay.
