Lt. Col. Dickie Smith

He graduated from Central High School in 1954. Dickie was a paratrooper and served in the U.S Army, 101st Airborne Division, Ft Campbell, KY, for 4 years during the Vietnam War and retired from the Army Reserves. He retired after 30 years of employment at Cassen’s Transport, Fenton, MO. Dickie was very dedicated in volunteering and serving the community. He was service oriented in all areas of his life, including his involvement with the Lions Club, Eagle’s and VFW. Dickie was a master griller and loved his family very much.

Dickie was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sue (Bradley) Smith; his parents; and brothers, Robert and Freddie Smith.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan D. Smith (Ronald A. Hutcheson) of Indianapolis; sister-in-law, Bettye Harrelson (Ernest) of Evansville; and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714, with Pastor Greg Davis officiating. Family and friends may visit from 10: 00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted.
