Debra Denise Butturi, 62, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020, surrounded by close family and friends. She was born on Saturday, June 29, 1957 in Evansville to the late Eugene and Estella (Brunner) Dubber.
She was a 1975 graduate of F.J. Reitz High School and a 1978 graduate of the Deaconess School of Nursing. Debra was most recently employed as a Registered Nurse at Hamilton Pointe Health and Rehabilitation Center. Most notably, she worked for Deaconess Health System for over 35 years where she shined in her true passion as an emergency room nurse and EMS Coordinator. She poured her life into her work, and over the years, she earned many certifications to progress in her field. Debra dedicated her life to teaching and mentoring health care professionals. She taught hundreds of people the skills that they use to save lives every day. Debra always put everyone else before herself. She loved going to the beach, caring for her dogs, enjoying brain sandwiches, and having herself a good margarita or cold can of Ski. Most of all, she absolutely adored her family.
Debra is survived by her husband, Renato Butturi, with whom she was married for 32 years; children, Marco Butturi (Regan) of Evansville, Gabriella Butturi of Newburgh, and Michelangelo Butturi of Rock Island, Illinois; brothers, Michael Dubber (Janet) and David Dubber (Colleen) of Evansville; niece, Amy Dubber of Evansville; nephews, JD Dubber (Melissa) of Evansville, and Jake Dubber (Ree) of Sarasota, Florida; and great nephew Parker Dubber of Evansville.
A public celebration of life for Debra will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Alexander East Chapel.
