Daniel George Frick, 94, of Evansville, died at Deaconess Hospital main campus at 9:00 AM on March 24, 2017. His parents were Louise Brune Frick and Daniel Auther Frick. He was born in Evansville on August 27, 1922.
Dan graduated from Central High School in 1940 and married Katherine Grimm in September, 1942. He joined the Navy soon after Pearl Harbor, attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer and saw action in the Pacific Theatre during the war at the Mariiana Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima. He remained in the Navy until November, 1945.
Dan went to work for Sun Oil Company soon after graduating from high school and returned to work for Sun after the war. He was the last Superintendent for Sun Oil before they withdrew from the Tri-State area and Dan retired after 44 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Kate, in March 2012.
Dan is survived by his one daughter, Nancy Frick Geiger (Mike) and one son, Daniel C. Frick; four grandchildren, Nicole Geiger Welden, Elizabeth Geiger Woosley, Daniel G. (Beau) Frick II and Ashley Frick Hancock, as well as eight great grandchildren, Will Hammer, Marin Woosley, Rhett Cardwell, Hanner Cardwell, Kaiser Frick, Griffin Frick, Emily Kate Hancock, and Beckett Hancock.
He has resided at Solarbron for several years and recently at the Terrace at Solarbron. His family will be forever grateful for the outstanding quality of care and love given to Dan by the staff there.
Dan was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Hadi Shrine, and St. John’s United Church of Christ where he served many years on the Church Council.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, with entombment following. Friends may visit from 9:00 AM until service time at the cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Shriners Hospital.
