He was born July 15, 1958, in Evansville. He was the son of Robert Lee Higgs and Joyce Ann (Garrison) Higgs Harp. He was raised by his mother and step-father, James Elwood Harp.
He enjoyed hunting and collecting coins, American Indian artwork and artifacts, and guns, as well as rifles. He loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. The grandchildren brought so much joy into his life. He served in the Marines.
Dale is survived by his wife, Vickie Lynn (Owen) Higgs; one daughter, KC Higgs and her fiancé, Rogello Lara; son, Dale Eugene Higgs, Jr. and his companion, Katie Franklin; two stepsons, Jeremy Wade and Brice Notter; two grandsons, Andrew Galindo and Chase Higgs; two granddaughters, Kristina Briones and Sydni Higgs; one stepgranddaughter, Autumn Wade; mother, Joyce Harp; father, Robert Higgs; stepfather, James Harp; brother, Ronald Higgs; two sisters, Cynthia Wongngamnit and her husband, Suchai and Pamela Higgs; two half-sisters, Peggy Perry and husband, Mark, whom he considered as a friend too and Judy Harbison; one half-brother, James Harp and wife, Beth; one stepbrother, James Sink; mother-in-law, Genaveria Owen; sisters-in-law, Julie Davis, Goldie Gourley, Diana Morris and Janet Jones; brother-in-law, Rickie Owen; nieces, Tammy Higgs and husband, Wayne; Windy Higgs, Melissa Kennedy and husband, Mark, Bobby Higgs and husband, Gregg, Bailey Higgs, Miranda Higgs, Ronnie Higgs, Hannah Higgs, Sabra Higgs, Chinda Wongngamnit and husband, Andrew, Kerry Johnson and fiancé, Shawn Gish, Amber Smith and husband, Derek, and Samantha Harbison and companion, Matthew Beaven; nephews, Narin Wongngamnit, MD, David Johnson and wife, Michelle; Andrew Johnson and wife, Kristi, Gregory Harp and wife, Kendall, Michael Milburn and wife, Tina and Tyler Perry; great-nieces and great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends which include Brian Milburn, Steve Joseph, Sr., and Don Stuteville.
Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Alexander Memorial Park Chapel, officiated by Rev. Matt Gapinski with burial to follow. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel and Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at cemetery chapel.
