Curt Hayden, 63, of Fishers, IN, passed away on November 5th, 2022 surrounded by family. He was born on September 28th, 1959 in Evansville, IN. He is the third child of Bill and Joyce Hayden. He has an older sister, Pamela Scheller, an older brother, Mark Hayden, and a younger brother, Bryan Hayden. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1977, where he enjoyed playing football and being social with friends. He attended Indiana University where he majored in Computer Science.
Curt married the love of his life, Nita Hayden, on September 3rd, 1983. They moved to the Chicago suburbs when he accepted a career opportunity with corporate Walgreens. Curt served Walgreens for over 26 years. His final title was Vice President of Architecture and Support. He was a key person in bringing Walgreens pharmacies to Japan. He also helped Walgreens develop their Intercom system. He holds a patent for their information distribution system, which took years of hard work to develop. He was proud of that accomplishment.
Together, Curt and Nita raised two daughters, Stephanie (Kyle) Center and Sara Hayden. They have one granddaughter, Charlotte Center, born October 7th, 2022. Curt was a committed husband of 39 years and a devoted father. He was excited about his promotion to “grandpa” and was looking forward to getting to know his granddaughter.
Curt loved spending time with his family. Even with all of his work responsibilities, he never missed a dance recital or softball game. He made his girls a priority and he showed up for them. He had a strong presence in his daughter’s lives. He took his family on yearly vacations to explore new places and spend quality time together. He valued experiences over possessions. He enjoyed attending college and professional sporting events with his kids. He was also a great golfer and jumped at any opportunity to try out a new course.
Curious at heart, Curt was always reading. His mom once joked that as a child, she’d find him nose deep in an Encyclopedia. He had an intrinsic thirst for knowledge. He loved learning. He was so incredibly intelligent, always questioning the status quo. He was a generous man with both his time and resources. He was always quick to lend a helping hand and he never kept “score”. He didn’t know a stranger. He was always cool and calm with a happy-go-lucky spirit.
