Chris A. McCormick, 55, left this world suddenly and unexpectedly, on Friday, July 29, 2016, due to what was ruled to be Cardiovascular Autonomic Neuropathy. He passed away quickly and quietly in his favorite chair. Chris was born March 31, 1961, in Franklin, IN to Russell and Betty McCormick.
On November 14, 1997, Chris married Tamara D. Gordon. Chris and Tammy dated while attending Harrison High School when they were young, then were reunited by chance when taking their children to Dairy Queen in the summer of 1997. They spent almost 19 loving years together. Chris attended Harrison High School and graduated as part of the class of 1979. He took classes at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana while employed with MacLellan Integrated Services at Toyota, where he was a team leader and worked for over 12 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and many Sundays were spent watching races on TV in his favorite chair or at the track. His favorite driver was Jeff Gordon, and his favorite track to visit and races to watch were at Martinsville Speedway located in Martinsville, VA. He was also an avid collector of NASCAR memorabilia. Chris was a HUGE fan of music, especially classic rock. He was a good man, a hard worker, and a fun-loving, caring person. He was always quick with a joke, loved to laugh, and loved to make others laugh. If people around him were happy, so was he. His sudden and unexpected passing has been devastating to family and friends.
Chris is survived by his wife, Tammy D. McCormick; father, Russell McCormick; step-mother, Mary McCormick; brother, Michael McCormick; sister-in-law, Wendy McCormick; children, Aaron McCormick and Michelle Alvey; step-children, Roy Bayne, Sara Bayne and Charlee Storch; father-in-law, Charles Gordon; brother-in-law, William Gordon; sons-in-law, Robert Alvey II and Donnie Storch; daughters-in-law, Nicole McCormick and Erin Bayne; grandchildren, Keith Alvey, Kaitlin Alvey, Kristin Alvey, Hannah McCormick, Addelynne Bayne and Naomi Storch; great-grandchildren, Riley Alvey and Cali Alvey; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends, co-workers, and associates.
A private visitation for family members only will be held Friday, August 5, 2016, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Alexander West Chapel. Friends may visit Friday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Per Chris’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held later this month for anyone who is unable to attend visitation.
