Growing up, his family lived in many different locations, as his father was a Baptist minister. He served in the United States Navy and finished college after his return. Charles retired from Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. He taught Mathematics for most of his career. Charles moved to Eustis, Florida in 1984, marrying Carrie, the love of his life. Charles and Carrie enjoyed traveling and spent many summers visiting other countries and beautiful areas of the States with Teresa, Tino, and their two children. They also explored the West with Bob, Laura, and their three boys. Walking every day was one of his favorite things to do. He still walked as often as he was able.
Charles grew up with two sisters who preceded him in death, Sonora Parkinson and Camilla Kirkwood; and a brother who died as a child.
He is survived by his wife Carrie; Teresa, Tino, Cody, Colton, Bob, Laura, RJ, Tyler and Dillon; Teresa, Roxanne, Scott and three other nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Alexander North Chapel with Rev. Art Christmas officiating. Friends may visit on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
