Carolyn Ann Dirks, 96, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021, at Linda White Hospice Center. She was born November 9, 1924, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Jarvis and Marguerite (Sehlinger) Holman.
Carolyn graduated from Anchorage High School in Louisville. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Church of God. She was a Boy Scout/Girl Scout and Brownie Leader. She was a Sunday School teacher for 10 years and was an Assistant Nursery School Teacher at McCutchanville Methodist Church for seven years. Carolyn was a member of the Seedlings Garden Club, and an Election Day volunteer. She loved games, dominos, bridge, etc. and enjoyed her bible study groups. She was a lover of all nature and volunteered at Wesselman Nature Preserve and Mesker Zoo for several years. Carolyn loved horses and was known for her annual Kentucky Derby parties.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Gordon Dirks; and son, G. Ken Dirks.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Judy Wimer of Cape Cod, MA and Joanne Ubelhor (Randy); grandchildren, Justin Ubelhor (Aimee), Brandi Jackson (Seth) and Brooke Ubelhor; great grandchildren, Fiona, Isaac, Nora and Leon Jackson and Kane Ubelhor; sister, Margie Wright; nieces and nephews, Susan Dawson (Nelson) of Louisville, KY, Ted Krull (Carla), Janeane Yeh (Frank), David Krull, Karen Morey and Sheila Sawyer (John) of California.
Carolyn was one of the most beautiful loving people that ever walked this earth. Everyone that met her, loved her. She will be dearly missed by all.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Rev. Bruce Applegate, with burial in McCutchanville Cemetery. Friends may visit Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
