He was an Army Veteran and served in WWII. He was a member of VFW Post #1114. Bill was employed with Pittsburg Plate Glass and was the first retiree from the Evansville Plant. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and dancing.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mel and Pauline Griffin; and sister, Anita Dixon.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lavonda R. (Talbert) Bullock; daughters, Cheryl Jones (Phillip) and Debby Smiddy (Mark); five grandchildren, Jerry Jones (Kae), Carrie Ann South (Bob), Brian Smiddy (Michanne), Joseph Smiddy (Pamela) and Justin Smiddy (Shelia); 13 great-grandchildren, Bart Crowder, Jeff Jones, Stefan Render, Rachel Jones, Laken Elaine South, Adison Jay South, Keira Ann South, Lyssa Smiddy, Cole Smiddy, Katelyn Smiddy, Eric Mason, Chloe Coburn and Tristan Coburn; and brother, Donald Griffin (Kris).
Services were 1 PM Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Eric Martin, with burial in Tupman Cemetery. Friends visited Tuesday from 10 AM until service time.
