She was a Home-Economics teacher during WWII in the Pennsylvania school system and then again for 30 years at Scott Township Elementary School. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, where she played the keyboard up until three years ago. Her membership at Centenary was very important to her. She was also a member of the Evansville Retired Teachers Association, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and a life member of the Alumni Association of Indiana University. Betty received a Bachelor’s degree from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA and a Master’s degree from Indiana University. She enjoyed reading, doll collecting, and playing the piano and organ.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David Richards, Jr.
She is survived by her sons, David William (Jackie) and John Alan Richards.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at Centenary United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Danny Walker, with burial to follow in Centenary UMC Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the church.
